Clients can use the SARC with or without reporting an incident to the Police. Those choosing not to report an incident can still receive support and Counselling from New Pathways, as well as a Forensic Medical Examination. Any samples taken during the examination can be held by New Pathways, enabling the Police to use them as evidence if the client wishes to report an incident at a later date.
On attending the SARC, a fully trained Crisis Worker can carefully explain the options that are available to a victim, carefully explain the advice, help and support that New Pathways can provide throughout the process and provide advice on how the judicial process works. The Crisis Worker can also arrange for follow up examinations and counselling.
