Directions

Coming from The North (i.e. Manchester, Birmingham, etc)

From the M5 (heading south) turn off onto the M50.  Follow that road, which then becomes the A40 and follow signs for Monmouth.

Continue on that road and a few miles after Monmouth the A40 becomes the A449.  At this point turn off onto the A40 and follow signs for Abergavenny.

There is a large roundabout just before Abergavenny. Take the second exit dead ahead (the A465), following signs for Merthyr Tydfil.

Keep on that road and just after the turn off for Rhymney you come to a large roundabout.  The first exit says “Merthyr Town Centre” but take the second exit.  You immediately come to a second roundabout and here take the first exit marked “Dowlais”.  This road is the A4102.

Follow this road down a steep hill for almost 2 miles.  You will encounter several roundabouts but just keep going straight on and down the hill.  Eventually you will come to a mini-roundabout – take the first exit left and continue down a one-way street to a fork in the road.

Right in front of you is a Whetherspoons pub called “Y Dic Penderyn”.  Take the road to the left, passing the library and a church.  Just after the church the road bears left.  As you go up this hill there is a road straight in front of you before the one you are on bears right.

That road is Church Street and 200 yards up that hill, a pub called “The Brunswick” is on the left corner and we are immediately opposite on the other corner.

Coming from The East or West (i.e. London, Bristol, Swansea, etc)

From the M4, take the exit at Junction 32 and follow signs for Merthyr Tydfil on the A470.

Stay on that dual-carriageway for about 20 miles, going straight on at the first large roundabout you come to (you want the second exit).

At the next roundabout Merthyr Tydfil is sign posted to your right but take the second exit straight ahead.

The next roundabout is for Rhydycar and you take the third exit to your right.

Go straight over the next roundabout passing T mobile on your left and Rhydycar Leisure centre on your right.

Take the second exit at the next small roundabout and follow the road around to the right and under the railway bridge.

Go straight over the next roundabout, keeping Tescos to your left at all times.

After passing a small car park on your right you will see a turning right – take that right turn.

That road is Church Street and 200 yards up that hill, a pub called “The Brunswick” is on the left corner and we are immediately opposite on the other corner.

The directions are also available for download in printer friendly PDF format from the downloads page.
