Gwent Police are working in partnership with New Pathways to enable
vital services to be made available and provided to those affected
by Rape and Sexual Violence in Gwent.
This partnership will ensure that vital
Forensic and Support services are available throughout Gwent and has
resulted in the establishment of a SARC at Risca.
Within the SARC at Laburnum House, Risca, we have an examination
room, which has been therapeutically designed.to
promote a feeling of safety and comfort.
The gathering of forensic evidence can be
upsetting, and research has demonstrated that further trauma can be
felt at this time. At the SARC in Risca, we will provide help,
support and comfort to a victim and assist the victim in every way
possible.
The SARC has been designed
so that the individual is able to shower after the medical
examination. The shower room has been designed to promote privacy,
comfort and dignity. Each client will be given a Care Pack
containing clothing and toiletries.
We also have a larger shower room which is based on the ground floor
with full disabled access.
The SARC contains a Police monitoring room, which can
be used by victims reporting crimes.
